Trey Burke, one of the greatest Michigan Wolverines of all time, regardless of sport, says that Michigan basketball will retire his number.
"I have heard that will happen," Burke said on the Politely Raw Podcast. "I was told not to say anything, but yes. I'm sure they are going to be upset when they see...I'm glad you asked because I wasn't going to say anything. I have heard that it will happen. Bucket list for me."
The fact that Trey Burke says having his number retired by Michigan basketball is on his "bucket list" makes me love the Michigan Wolverines legend even more.
Burke will always be remembered for his legendary shot against Kansas, which forced overtime in the Sweet 16. The Wolverines won that game and finished national runner-up (after Trey was called for a bogus fifth foul on a clean block).
Burke, from Ohio, went on to win National Player of the Year. He was also the Big Ten Player of the Year, and a lottery pick in the NBA draft.
Frankly, it has taken too long. Burke's name and number should already been in the rafters, right next to Chris Webber's.
Michigan Wolverines advanced in Big Ten softball tournament
The Michigan softball team advanced in the first round of the Big Ten tournament on Wednesday with a 3-2 win over Wisconsin.
Jessica Conway drove in two of Michigan's three runs. She also hit a solo home run, as did Ellie Sieler. Lauren Derkowski was stellar in the circle, allowing two runs on seven hits. She was also credited with seven strikeouts and two walks.
Michigan (35-19) will face top-seeded Oregon, the Big Ten regular season champion, at 4:30 EST. The game will be shown on the Big Ten Network.
The House settlement pushed back a week or so
Chaos could reign in college football very soon. The NCAA came back with a proposal in the House Settlement that was made public on Wednesday.
NCAA and power conferences responded to Judge Claudia Wilken’s latest order by permitting - not requiring - schools to grandfather-in athletes.

Will it be enough for the judge? Objectors are expected to pushback.
The latest House settlement quandary https://t.co/ax94IBsAY1
The NCAA's response (according to a report from Ross Dellenger) to judge Claudia Wilken’s request for a grandfathering of roster limits is to permit schools to grandfather current players into the system, instead of forcing schools to keep them. Even if a player goes to another school, he still wouldn't go against the roster limit of the new school. Schools wouldn't be required, though.
It's hard to know if the judge will accept this or not. Other filings from the objectors (side opposing the NCAA) are expected and a ruling will come after May 16. If the settlement is rejected, schools are expected to rely on state laws, some of which have passed already, to pay players directly.
It could become the Wild West, though, even more than it already has.
