Michigan football has been making progress with four-star linebacker Braylon Hodge. But on Friday, Hodge officially became a former Michigan State commitment, with his decommitment from the Spartans.
The 6-foot-3, 212-pound linebacker out of Colorado, is ranked No. 271 overall in the 2026 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.
Michigan football has made no secret about the want for another linebacker or two in the 2026 class. The Wolverines have also been pushing for Georgia commitment Nick Abrams, who visited last weekend during the win over Wisconsin.
Hodge told Rivals that Michigan, Oregon, and Texas are the programs he is considering right now. It sounds like they are all on even footing, but it's a great chance to land a blue-chip player at a position of need in the 2026 class.
Michigan hockey notches a top-10 victory
The Michigan Wolverines improved to 3-0 on the 2025-26 hockey season with a 5-1 victory over seventh-ranked Providence Friday night on the road. Sophomore Michael Hage scored twice in the win for the Michigan hockey team. Drew Schock also scored his first goal for the ninth-ranked Wolverines.
Goaltender Jack Ivankovic, a second-round NHL draft pick, stopped 19 of 20 shots. He's started all three games between the pipes with a 3-0 record. Hage scored his first goal of the game just 1:44 into the contest. Providence tied the score, but not for long as T.J Hughes found the back of the net.
Garrett Schifsky scored the other goal for the Michigan Wolverines. The two teams will play again Saturday at 7 PM EST on ESPN+.
Michigan football vs. USC updates
In a positive update for Michigan football ahead of the USC game, Hogan Hansen is expected to play for the Wolverines. The 6-foot-5 tight end could provide a boost to the passing game.
Rod Moore, who had an interception last week against Wisconsin, is also expected to see more snaps this week, which would be a huge help for the pass defense in the effort to limit big plays.
