There is now another former Michigan football player on the roster of the Detroit Lions and that's Ronnie Bell, the former Michigan Wolverines standout.

Ronnie Bell had 145 receptions for 2,269 yards during his Michigan football career including 62 receptions for 889 yards and the 2022 season. He was part of two Big Ten championship teams and a pair of wins over Ohio State.

Following his career with the Wolverines, Bell was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the seventh round of the NFL draft. Bell caught just eight passes in two seasons for the Niners but did have 90 yards receiving and three touchdown receptions as a rookie.

Yet, he was waived after just two receptions for 22 yards this season. However, Bell was signed by the Lions this week on a future/reserves contract. That will give him a chance to compete in training camp and earn his way on the 53-man roster.

Bell join Michigan football legend Aidan Hutchingon on the Lions roster, as well as Graham Glasgow, who signed a deal last offseason through the 2026 season.

Michigan football misses out on Final AP Top 25

Despite a strong finish the 2024 college football season, the Michigan football team didn't crack the final AP Top 25 poll.

The Wolverines do own a win over the No. 1 team, Ohio State, which won the national title on Monday night. The Wolverines also knocked off Alabama, which finished 17th in the final poll.

However, looking ahead to next season, an On3 preseason top 25 poll has Michigan football ranked No. 12 going into the 2025 season. Here's what Ari Wasserman wrote about the Wolverines:

"Sherrone Moore didn’t shoot out of a cannon this year, but Michigan’s culture was strong enough to beat Ohio State and Alabama to close out its season. The Wolverines signed five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood and brought in running back Justice Haynes to go along with Jordan Marshall. Michigan loses important pieces like Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant, but the Wolverines should be better next year."

Michigan basketball bracketology updates

In case you missed it, the Michigan basketball dropped a seed line in the latest ESPN bracketology projections following the loss to Minnesota. The Wolverines can bounce back with a win over Purdue on Friday, which could boost the resume and U-M's Big Ten title hopes.

The Michigan women's basketball team is also projected to make the NCAA tournament as a No. 8 seed, which is impressive considering the Wolverines are starting three true freshman.
