As Michigan gets deeper into fall camp, there is more information coming out every day on how guys are looking, as well as the goals of each guy personally and for the team. Coaches are also getting a better idea of which guys are emerging as stars and others who might need a little more work as the season goes on.
Either way, we are here to offer up some of those stories you may have missed in the shuffle of everything coming out in the last few days.
Jyaire Hill plans to make the 2026 season his last at Michigan and is setting high goals
Senior cornerback Jyaire Hill spoke to the media on Thursday, shedding light on how things are looking for the Wolverines in fall camp. When asked about his own progress, Hill feels he is showing a lot of good things and is ready for Michigan to get that Championship this season.
Not only did Hill talk about this upcoming season, but also his plans after the season. Hill is expecting this to be his last season with the Wolverines, even with the five-for-five rule in effect. Hill could have another season at Michigan if he chose to, but it seems like he is ready to take his talents to the NFL after the 2026 season.
Jason Beck has more than he could ever ask for with Michigan's run game, but how does he control it?
The Big Ten Network was in Ann Arbor this week, showcasing Michigan and its progress through fall camp. One of the biggest things everyone has talked about is the run game led by junior Jordan Marshall and the emergence of freshman running back Savion Hiter.
Obviously, quarterback Bryce Underwood has the ability to run the ball effectively, but offensive coordinator Jason Beck may not even need to use him too much with Marshall and Hiter in the backfield. Beck knows the strength he has with his running backs, but now the question becomes: how does he control it?
What is the split between Marshall and Hiter? If is simply going with the hot hand, or Marshall staying in the starting role? It has to be believed that it will be a fluid position, even at times having both backs in the game, but that is a problem Beck is probably okay dealing with.
Booger McFarland still have belief that J.J. McCarthy has a bright future in the NFL
Earlier this week, the Minnesota Vikings named Kyler Murray as their starting quarterback, effectively pushing former Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy into the backup role. After being drafted in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, McCarthy's NFL journey has not been an easy one.
Even though McCarthy wasn't named the starter for the Vikings, that doesn't mean his NFL career is over. There have been plenty of quarterbacks who have lost the starting spot, become a quality backup, and found success later in their career; just look at Sam Darnold with the Seahawks. That is exactly what ESPN analyst Booger McFarland wants McCarthy to remember.

McFarland believes that McCarthy has more to give in his career. He is only going into his fourth season, and with all the injuries he has endured, he needs to prove he can stay healthy. Murray is only on a one-year deal with the Vikings, so McCarthy could just need a season to get back on the horse and find some confidence again.
