The Michigan Wolverines have suffered some heavy losses this offseason due to players declaring for the NFL draft. Another Michigan football player did that on Thursday, as Kenneth Grant, a projected first-round pick announced he will enter the 2025 NFL draft.

There was some hope that Grant would return, but that was always a slim possibility. However, Michigan football hasn't suffered many losses to the transfer portal. Tyler Morris is the only starter from last season to leave, outside of punter Tommy Doman.

One Michigan football player that some fans thought might transfer is former four-star quarterback Jadyn Davis. He redshirted this past season for the Michigan Wolverines and isn't expected to get any playing time in the bowl game against Alabama.

Couple that with the fact that Michigan football signed five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood, who is ranked No. 1 overall in the 2025 class, and a transfer wouldn't be shocking. Yet, Davis told Rivals on Thursday, "I've never been afraid to compete."

That indicates that Davis will stick around and compete with Bryce Underwood. Mikey Keene was added to be the bridge quarterback from the transfer portal and Davis Warren could be back too.

Michigan football misses on top transfer portal target

The Michigan Wolverines were in the thick of things with former Arizona cornerback Emmanuel Karnley, however, the 6-foot-3 standout ranked No. 6 among cornerbacks in the portal via 247 Sports chose Miami on Thursday over Michigan football and others.

Karnley could have taken over the vacant starting job left by Will Johnson, but now, it's back to the drawing board for Michigan football, which still needs at least one starting-caliber corner from the transfer portal.
