Michigan football will play in the Citrus Bowl, according to Brett McMurphy of On3.com. That was something most Wolverines fans expected, but it's locked in now.

Michigan will play an SEC opponent. We all know that it will be Texas. A game against Vanderbilt would be fun, but the money says Michigan vs. Texas. The two teams met last season and are expected to play again in 2027.

Still, it will be an important game for Michigan, especially QB Bryce Underwood. You will have two former No. 1 recruits coming off disappointing seasons. Arch Manning was supposed to win the Heisman and lead Texas to the national title. The winner will get 10 wins.

The game will be played on Dec. 31.

Michigan Wolverines hire former Ohio State assistant as special teams coach

It didn't take long for Sherrone Moore to fill the vacancy on his staff at special teams coach, hiring former Ohio State assistant Kerry Coombs to coach the special teams.

Coombs has decades of experience. He's coached in the secondary, been a defensive coordinator, like he was for Ohio State in 2021, and most recently was special teams coordinator and cornerbacks coach for Cincinnati. He's also an elite recruiter.

This was a solid hire in more ways than one.

Michigan hockey splits with Spartans

After an incredible performance by Wolverines goaltender Jack Ivankovic on Friday night, as Michigan hockey blanked the Spartans in a 3-0 win, the top-ranked Wolverines had to settle for a split with No. 3 Michigan State after a 3-1 defeat on Saturay.

Malcolm Spence opened the scoring with a one-timer on Friday, in what proved to be the game-winning goal. Jayden Perron and Aidan Park each added goals in the third period.

Will Horcoff scored his nation-leading 19th goal in the first period against MSU on Saturday, but Ivankovic was beaten three times in the last two periods to take the loss. Michigan is 16-4 and 7-3 in the Big Ten.

Wisconsin is sitting in first at 8-2. Michigan will play its next two-game series in the league on January 9-10 against Notre Dame.

Michigan Wolverines knocked out of NCAA volleyball tournament

After a 3-0 sweep of Xavier in the first round of the NCAA tournament, Michigan volleyball suffered the same fate, dropping its second-round match 3-0 to top-seeded Pittsburgh. Allison Jacobs had 19 kills and hit .326 in the win over Xavier. Michigan finished the season 22-11.
