Michigan football was expected to be active in the transfer portal and so far, the Wolverines have been true to that.
The transfer portal officially opened on Monday. We are still seeing things develop and we haven't seen very many commitments yet. Transfer players are setting up visits and we should start to see some decisions made soon.
As far as Michigan football is concerned, the Wolverines have focused on the trenches early. Former Liberty offensive lineman, Jordan White, an all-conference center previously for the Liberty, is visiting Michigan football on Wednesday according to Steve Wiltfong of On3.com.
Michigan could use 2-3 offensive line starters and White, who could be a candidate to take over at center, would be a huge addition. Josh Thompson, a 21-game starter for Northwestern, will also visit the Wolverines next Monday. Ohio State, South Carolina, Michigan State, Auburn, and Tennessee are some of the other programs expected to be in the mix.
Thompson has experience as a starting tackle and guard. He's 6-foot-5, 300 pounds and is from Fenton, Michigan.
Another visitor this weekend will be former Kentucky defensive lineman Keeshawn Silver. The 6-foot-3, 334-pounder started 11 games for the Wildcats in 2023 and played in all 12 last season. He was formerly a five-star recruit and committed to North Carolina before transferring to Lexington.
Silver had 48 tackles in his career and one sack. He's the kind of nose tackle that Michigan football needs, especially with Mason Graham leaving for the NFL draft. Florida, USC, and Miami are the other contenders.
Wiltfong also made it seem like Michigan football is losing traction with former Indiana wide receiver Donaven McCaulley, who already visited the Wolverines. He was projected to land with U-M but now Oklahoma is trending up.

In case you missed it, the Michigan Wolverines have hired Chip Lindsey, the former North Carolina offensive coordinator to be their offensive coordinator next season.
Lindsey coached Drake Maye during the 2023 season and North Carolina averaged 491 yards per game. The. Tar Heels also had a solid offense this season, despite losing Maye, and Max Johnson, the starting quarterback in the first game of the season. UNC still averaged 423 yards of total offense and 32 points.
Overall, it seems like a good hire. Here were the gut reactions. Also, Michigan basketball lost a heartbreaker on Tuesday night.
