After the Wolverines were able to grind out victories to open the season against teams in Western Michigan and Oklahoma that won 10 games a year ago, Michigan football will turn its attention to UTEP in Week 3.
UTEP is 1-1 but is coming off a 2-10 season. The Miners lost their first game of the season to Oklahoma, 51-0, and also defeated Texas Southern, 51-10. EJ Colson completed 14-of-21 passes for 239 yards and four touchdowns in the win. He also ran for 49 yards and a score.
Michigan earned its way back into the Top 25 after the 17-10 win over Oklahoma. Bryce Underwood also put to bed any questions about him being the starting quarterback moving forward. The Wolverines need another solid performance, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
The running game is one thing to watch. Jordan Marshall and Savion Hiter have gotten just 97 yards on 35 carries so far this season. That's putrid. UTEP is allowing 3.6 rushing yards per game. However, Michigan should be able to control the line of scrimmage. If not, that's a real red flag.
