Michigan has won three straight against Michigan State and, truthfully, it looks like the Paul Bunyan Trophy is going to be in Ann Arbor for a while.
So Sparty has to do whatever it can to make this game seem like it's still a rivalry that Michigan really thinks about in between more important games on the schedule. Insert wide receiver Nick Marsh, who suggests that he has to avoid some sort of altercation when playing the Wolverines because the always-innocent Spartans just want a good, clean game.
Michigan State WR Nick Marsh on playing Michigan:

“Just trying to avoid stuff like that (altercations), and then, you know, just knowing that they're going to try to start something, it’s not fuel for us, playing them is enough fuel for us.” pic.twitter.com/zt2zwM9Do5
Hmmm. Interesting coming from a place where guys were criminally charged for fighting Michigan players in a tunnel. nd let's not even talk about the situation where Sparty tried to hijack Colston Loveland during the victory formation last season.
This was part of a wide-ranging presser with Marsh where he basically says he's transferring after this season without just coming out and saying it. Instead he says he's playing hard for the most part. Way to stay committed to the task there Nick.
Listen, this is a chance for Sparty to salvage its season. Michigan State has lost four straight, got smashed by UCLA for homecoming and has given up at least 38 points in each conference game. The Spartans are not a good team and there's no reason for Michigan to treat them as such. So, in that sense, Marsh is right. The Wolverines just need to walk into Lansing, take care of business and walk out. No need to engage in silliness with little bro, because, as Loveland famously said, "little bro stay doing little bro things."

What's at stake for Michigan this weekend?
A win on Saturday would put the Wolverines at 6-2 and bowl eligibility and from there the schedule opens up pretty nicely to get to 9-2 before Ohio comes into town. This would also be Michigan's fourth straight win over its in-state rival — the Wolverines' longest win streak in the series since running off six straight from 2002-2007. Michigan has won three of the past four games in East Lansing.
More than anything, it's just another chance to let little bro know that they'll never be big brother, no matter how hard they try.
