Michigan is 4-3 on the season after what was probably one of the worst games they have played. With the reigning champion Indiana Hoosiers in town, the Wolverines had their best shot at pulling off a huge upset thanks to a stellar performance from the Michigan defense, but the offense simply couldn't perform...again.
This was supposed to be the week the Wolverines put it all together on offense behind freshman QB Tommy Carr. Instead, Michigan scored just six points against what is a very good Indiana defense, but squandered four red zone trips. The Wolverines are a mess under Kyle Whittingham, while his former team, Utah, just vaulted up to the top of the Big 12 standings and is one of the few undefeated teams.
Former NFL quarterback and Big 12 star, Robert Griffin III, pointed out something that is painfully obvious about Michigan and Utah. The Utes post-Whittingham are 7-0 with the CFP firmly in their grasp, while the Wolverines with Whittingham are 4-3, with way more questions than answers for this team.
All the players and coaches who stayed at Utah and didn’t go to Michigan are sitting at 7-0, 1st in the Big 12 and will be a Top 5 team in the country with the CFP within its grasp while Michigan is sitting at 4-3 with no idea who their QB is or what direction they are going.

Kyle Whittingham may want to worry about only lasting one season with Michigan
It is bad enough that Michigan is 4-3 this season, but the fact that each loss has come with the offense having a chance to either ice it or go out and win it is even worse. The Wolverines are a few plays away from being undefeated this season, but it all comes down to coaching.
This doesn't all go on Whittingham, especially the offensive decisions, which are made by offensive coordinator Jason Beck. However, Whittingham said it himself; he has the power to overrule any coaching decision, and he has yet to do that when Beck makes a call.
Michigan is not a program that has bad stretches that span over seasons, and yet, since Jim Harbaugh left after winning a National championship, Michigan has really struggled. There was hope that when athletic director Warde Manuel hired Whittingham, he would bring the culture from Utah to Ann Arbor.
So far, it hasn't been a winning culture, and with Manuel leaving at the end of the calendar year, the Wolverines will be bringing in someone new. That someone new may choose to make some changes, and it could start with Whittingham.
Now, Whittingham is in just his first season with Michigan, but the results haven't been great, and recruiting has been very quiet throughout the season. Whittingham just may not be the best fit for the Wolverines, and it is very possible he could be one-and-done after this season.
