The Big House was as quiet as it has been in a long time during the Michigan football game against Penn State.
Michigan was trailing 3-0. The Wolverines ended the first half with a turnover, and starting quarterback Bryce Underwood was benched.
Yet, on the first possession with Tommy Carr at quarterback, the Wolverines went three-and-out, punting the ball back to the Nittany Lions. It was an inflection point. If Penn State scored and pushed the lead to double digits, it might have been a death knell.
Instead, Michigan football got a spark, from captain Rod Moore.
Rod Moore hurt after a game-changing interception
The fifth-year senior made a diving interception to give the Michigan offense the ball on the Penn State side of the field. A few plays later, Bryson Kuzdal ripped off a 43-yard touchdown run, giving Michigan football its first offensive touchdown since the first half of the Minnesota game.
Unfortunately, Moore was seen soon after the pick in the injury tent. He did make a diving play on the interception. Then, in something no Michigan football fans wanted to see, Moore was taken off the field on the cart back to the locker room.

Moore suffered a season-ending injury before the 2024 season, suffering a torn ACL in spring practice that season. He worked his way back into the lineup last season, but only managed to play four games, although he did have an interception against Wisconsin.
Moore has played in every game so far this season. He had 22 tackles coming into the Penn State game, but hadn't made an interception. He also wasn't credited with a pass breakup. Still, his impact can't be questioned.
Hopefully, the cart is just a precaution. It would be heartbreaking for Moore if he suffered another serious injury. It would also be a massive blow to the Michigan footbal defense, too.
All we can do is hope for good news.

Update: Rod Moore has returned to the field and was riding the stationary bike in a very good sign that he avoided a serious injury.
