Michigan is not only dealing with the sting of losing on a last-second play to Iowa this past week, but also a few new players' injuries. It isn't all bad news, though, for the Wolverines because while some guys may now be out for a little while, others could make their return as soon as this week or next.
Kyle Whittingham gave both good news and bad news in his Monday morning presser. While it feels like the Wolverines are getting hit with lots of injuries, they are getting healthy at the same time. The good news is that no one is out for the season after the Iowa game, but it will be a wait-and-see type of play for Michigan.
So, let's not delay and take a look at the players Whittingham was able to give some updates on.
DE John Henry Daley
John Henry Daley's injury was one that no one wanted to see, and it's not just because of his level of play on the field. Daley's injury came at a crucial point in the game. Iowa was either going to spike the ball to stop the clock or try to run a rushed play. Either way, Daley's injury was not what Michigan wanted at all.
Whittingham did not have a lot of information to update everyone on Daley's injury, other than that he is questionable to play against Minnesota. Whittingham did say on the "Inside Michigan Football" podcast that Daley is walking without crutches or a boot, which seems to be a good sign.
OL Blake Frazier
Whittingham was pretty vague on the status of Blake Frazier, who left the Iowa game in some serious pain, but ended up returning. He did say after the game that Frazier's injury wasn't very serious, but on Monday in his presser, Whittingham said he won't have more information on whether Frazier will be available for the Minnesota game or not till later in the week.
OL Andrew Sprague
The news doesn't seem so great for Andrew Sprague, whose injury kept him out against UTEP and then Iowa. Whittingham said that there has been more clarity surrounding Sprague's injury, but they still have a few things to figure out. It doesn't seem like Sprague will be ready to go this week, and it is unknown exactly when he will be in the future.
OL Andrew Babalola
Andrew Babalola was working in the offseason to come back from a torn ACL at the end of fall camp in 2025. Late in the 2026 fall camp, he suffered a setback that has kept him out of every game this season. Babalola was in a position battle with Blake Frazier for the left tackle spot, but with Frazier potentially out as well, Babalola's return is needed.
Luckily, Whittingham was finally able to give a positive update on Babablola, stating that he will start back at practice on Monday of next week. This is huge for Jim Harding's group, which can use some good news.
OL Manuel Beigel
Manuel Beigel should get back into the fold this week after being cleared to practice. Beigel missed the Iowa game due to an undisclosed injury. With the offensive line taking some big hits so far this season, they can use all the depth they can get, including Beigel.
RB Jordan Marshall
Whittingham didn't talk much about Jordan Marshall, other than feeling he had a good game on Saturday. Marshall had more rushing yards than freshman Savion Hiter, with 59 compared to 53, but Hiter out-touched Marshall with 14 compared to 11. Hiter is also getting used more in the pass game.
There wasn't a belief that injury was a reason for Marshall not getting more carries than Hiter, but after getting banged up against UTEP, Marshall could still be working to get back to 100%. Marshall's injury designation is one to continue to watch, but nothing to be overly concerned with.
