Following an important visit weekend, Michigan football has picked up predictions to land four-star EDGE McHale Blade. A Chicago native, Blade was previously believed to be a heavy Notre Dame lean. However, that appears to have changed.
The timing of this is very significant because of the finalization of the House Settlement. Michigan football was waiting for more clarity surrounding the settlement before diving into NIL, and these predictions, along with what recruits are saying, indicate that Michigan has ramped up its NIL talks.
Michigan football trending for a commitment
Blade is currently scheduled to take official visits to Notre Dame and USC, but its unclear if those will be happening or not. Lou Esposito, along with head coach Sherrone Moore, both posted tweets hinting at a pending commitment.

Michigan is going all in on the EDGE position in the 2026 class. The Wolverines already have one commit in three-star Tariq Boney (who will likely rise in the rankings). They presumably lead for five-star Carter Meadows and McHale Blade, and are pursuing top-100 EDGE Trenton Henderson, who was also on campus this past weekend.
Landing Blade would be a huge win for Michigan. The Wolverines need some momentum as they approach the most important weekends of the Summer, and Blade could be the spark that ignites this 2026 class. Not to mention, it's always great to steal a recruit from Notre Dame. We'll see if this one becomes official, but things look good for Michigan. Keep an eye out for any updates.
