There is plenty of excitement surrounding the 2025 Michigan football season, and head coach Sherrone Moore only added to that on Thursday at Big Ten Media Days.
Michigan football "ready to put on a show"
"Team 146 is excited and ready to go. We are geared up. We have the conditioning test tomorrow, and next week, we start camp. We're ready to put on a show," Moore said via The Wolverine.
Fall camp will start on July 30th, Moore confirmed. He also offered some injury updates, stating that Mikey Keene, the expected backup to Bryce Underwood, was "throwing." Moore also said that Rod Moore, a key defensive back for Michigan football, who missed the 2024 season with an ACL injury, was "85 percent."
"Yeah, I just want him to feel good. When he feels good, we feel good. No one knows his body better than Rod. So excited to see where he is. He's running, he's cutting, doing things at full speed. DBs and skill guys are always a little bit more tender on those joints, because they've got to use them more than O-linemen and D-linemen," Moore said via 247 Sports.
Moore also said that he thinks Michigan football will be a better team this season after going 8-5 in 2024. The defense should be elite once again, with a loaded front seven and Wink Martindale back as the defensive coordinator.
Bryce Underwood should also be a major upgrade at quarterback, both as a passer and a runner. Michigan has also worked to upgrage the offensive line, and the pass catchers around Underwood, as well as the running game.
We'll see if everything comes together. What Moore said was encouraging, but we'll have to see what it looks like on the field in a little over a month against New Mexico.
