Michigan is known as an everything school, and the 2025 MLB draft only reinforced that for the Wolverines.

Michigan has enjoyed a ton of team success in the major sports over the past decade or so. The football team won the national title in 2023.

The Wolverines have played for the men's basketball national title twice since 2013, in addition to the hockey and baseball teams playing for the national championship too.

The Wolverines have already had three first-round picks in the 2024 NFL draft, but Michigan also had a first-round pick in the 2025 NBA and NHL drafts.

Danny Wolf was selected by the Brooklyn Nets. Around the same time in June, Will Horcoff, who played 18 games last season for the Michigan hockey team, was drafted in the first round by the Pittsburgh Panthers 24th overall.

Horcoff was a freshman last season, but will play once again for the Wolverines in 2025-26. That's the way that the NHL draft works. It's different than the NBA or NFL.

Michigan became the first school to have a player picked in the first round of the NFL, NBA, and NHL drafts. Well, you can add the MLB draft to that list, because on Sunday, Mitch Voit, the utility player who played at every position but catcher, was selected 38th overall by the New York Mets, making Michigan the first school to ever have a first-round pick in the same year in football, basketball, hockey, and baseball.

Voit hit .303 in 169 career games for the Michigan Wolverines. He was credited with 46 doubles, seven triples and 35 home runs. He was the first Michigan baseball player drafted since 2023 and was the first Big Ten player drafted.
