There isn't much debate that Charles Woodson is the greatest player in Michigan football history. He's the only Wolverine in the modern era to win the Heisman Trophy, as well as being the only mostly-defensive player to ever win the award.
Woodson had an incredible season, leading Michigan to a national championship. He was then a top-five pick of the Raiders and played in two Super Bowls -- one with the Raiders and another with the Packers, which he won.
Woodson's son, Charles Woodson Jr., a four-star safety in the 2027 class, has been a rising prospect on the recruiting trail. Over the past few months, three SEC schools -- Kentucky, Ole Miss and Texas A&M -- offered the blue-chip safety, along with Iowa State and Florida State.
Michigan football fans have been wondering if the Wolverines were going to offer Woodson Jr., who is ranked No. 363 overall in the 2027 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He's ranked 284th overall in the On3 Industry rankings.
Son of Michigan football legend offered
On Wednesday, we finally got our answer. The Wolverines extended a scholarship offer, according to a post from Woodson Jr. on social media. He used the most famous picture of his father in a Michigan football uniform, the one where he has the rose between his teeth after the Wolverines beat Ohio State in 1997.
Charles Woodson, who now covers college football for Fox Sports, reposted his son's post with a crying image and the text, "Go Blue forever."
You would have to think that the Michigan offer would be more significant for Woodson Jr. However, sons don't always follow in the footsteps of their fathers. We'll see what happens, but it's cool to see the Michigan legacy get the offer.
It's one we have all been waiting for.
