Dominic Zvada is the best kicker in college football. He might actually be the best kicker in all of football after making a 70-yard field goal recently in Michigan football practice.
Michigan football special teams coach JB Brown, who recruited Zvada out of the transfer portal from Arkansas State before the 2024 season, met with the local media on Wednesday. Brown revealed that Zvada, who was incredible for the Wolverines last season on his way to earning preseason All-American honors, recently made a 70-yard field goal in practice, which would set the NFL record.

Michigan football's secret weapon isn't a secret anymore
The current NFL record is 66, although a 70-yard field goal has been made in the preseason. Either way, it's impressive.
"It was off sticks, it was in warmups. He’s got a leg. I think we all know that. But definitely, his range will depend on what the weather is, what the elements are, but he’s got a strong leg, and he looks great right now," Brown said via The Wolverine.
Zvada made 21 of 22 field goals last season, which set a Michigan football record with a 95 percent field-goal percentage. What's even better is that Zvada was a perfect 7 of 7 from 50 yards or more.
The senior, who is 6-foot-3, 185 pounds, could have gone to the draft. He would have been selected, maybe even somewhat early on day three. Kickers are a weapon. He made a 56-yarder against Ohio State last season, a kick Michigan wouldn't have won "The Game" without.
I don't expect that we will see Zvada try a 70-yarder, although if the chance arises against a team like New Mexico, you never know.
Regardless, having a kicker who is automatic from the 40-yard line and in is a major weapon, especially when Michigan is expected to have one of the best defenses in college football.
