Michigan football has been struggling on the field in Sherrone Moore's first season. There's no doubt about that. The Wolverines just haven't been able to produce the results fans expected. Off the field, however, things have been going very well for Coach Moore and the Wolverines.

The Wolverines currently have four top-100 recruits and the #15 class in the nation. And those numbers could both be going up shortly. On Sunday, Steve Wiltfong put in a HUGE prediction for Michigan to land five-star offensive lineman Andrew Babalola.

What Andrew Babalola projection means for Michigan football

This is a massive development, as Auburn had been gaining ground in this recruitment and looked like it could potentially take the lead for Babalola.

Michigan football is in need of an offensive tackle in its 2025 recruiting class, and there aren't many better than Babalola, who is ranked as the #3 offensive tackle in the nation. Offensive tackle is a premium position, and in the era of NIL, being able to bring a five-star to Michigan would be huge.

With Michigan's struggles on the field, it appears that many are beginning to take NIL more seriously. While it's unknown how NIL is influencing Babalola's recruitment (and unlikely that Michigan has come close to what Auburn can offer), it's clear that Michigan is making positive strides in the recruiting world.

Babalola would be a massive land for the 2025 class, and could inspire other top recruits to look more closely at Michigan. With the expectation that the Wolverines are going to be ultra aggressive in the transfer portal this offseason, next years team could end up being much better than many expect. With a few more recruits who can make an impact day one, Michigan could compete for a playoff spot in 2025.

Landing Babalola would give Michigan football and Sherrone Moore the momentum they need to improve the future outlook of this Michigan program. Babalola is a guy who could legitimately compete for a starting job on day one, which is very rare for offensive linemen. Let's hope this momentum continues. Go blue!
