During his Monday press conference, Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore hinted that Jack Tuttle will be the starting quarterback for the Wolverines against Illinois on Oct. 19.

Moore didn't 100 percent confirm it, but it was probably as close as we'll get from the Michigan football coach, at least going into the bye week.

“I mean, right now it looks like Jack,” Moore said via On3. “We’ll do everything we can to keep the competition going, but I think right now he gives us the best chance to win. And we’ll continue to process that as an offense, as a team, but that looks like the direction we’re heading.”

The offense did look crisp against Washington for three drives with Tuttle in the game. He led Michigan football to a couple of touchdown drives. He also completed a third-and-long to Amorion Walker for 23 yards. That was a play we hadn't seen all year.

Yet, the running game went quiet in Seattle in the third and fourth quarters. Donovan Edwards slipped on what could have been a touchdown. Tuttle also had a pass to a wide-open Kalel Mulllings get batted down.

The fumble (when Walker was open downfield) and the final interception were costly. But Tuttle would get two weeks to prepare as the starting quarterback and right now, he feels like the best option.

Big Ten teams struggling on road trips

So far, Big Ten teams that have traveled across two time zones haven't fared well. Michigan football was one of those teams, traveling to Seattle for Saturday's game. The Wolverines lost 27-17.

It wasn't that surprising given how the season has been going, or the fact that it's hard to win on the West Coast for Big Ten teams. Michigan football has played games over the years at Oregon, or Wasington and has not won many times.

The Wolverines aren't alone though. So far, Big Ten teams traveling across two time zones are 1-8 this season according to the Seattle Times. Beyond that, just three of those nine games have been decided by single digits. That much travel has become an advantage for home teams, at least if they are facing a team two time zones away and we'll see if that trend continues in the coming months.

TV info announced for Michigan vs. Illinois

For the second time this season Michigan football will be shown on CBS. That was announced on Monday. The Wolverines will face Illinois after the bye week. Just like against USC, Michigan will play at 3:30 EST against a team with just one loss so far this season.
