Michigan football has been busy in terms of supplementing its coaching staff and on Friday, another hire by Sherrone Moore became public.

According to the Michigan staff directory, as reported by Anthony Broome of The Wolverine.com, Michigan football has hired David Denham as an assistant defensive line coach.

On the surface, this looks like another smart hire by Sherrone Moore. Denham has ties to D-line coach Lou Esposito, who he worked with at Western Michigan. Denham also served as a defensive line coach for Charlotte last season under Biff Poggi.

Poggi was the Charlotte head coach before getting fired after the 2024 season. He has also re-joined the staff as assistant head coach. Here's more on the new hire from Broome:

"Denham was with Charlotte during the 2024 season with Biff Poggi, who re-joined Michigan this offseason as its associate head coach. He coached the defensive tackles in the Queen City and was also the recruiting coordinator. Prior to that, he worked with Esposito at Western Michigan and was a consistent developer of talent, including players like Braden Fiske and Marshawn Kneeland, two NFL Draft picks last season."

Michigan football will host top-100 cornerback for spring visit

Another talented 2026 recruit will be visiting the Wolverines this spring as four-star cornerback Havon Finney has scheduled spring visit on March 26th according to On3.com.

Finney is 6-foot-2, 170 pounds out of Chatsworth, California. He's ranked 96th overall. Michigan is one of the teams in contention. However, Ohio State, USC, UCLA, and Oregon are also listed as "warm" according to his 247 Sports profile.

LSU and USC are the leaders according to the On3 recruiting prediction machine. Both schools have Finney locked in for official visits. That's likely the goal for Michigan football on this visit. Have it go well enough to get him back for an official visit in the summer.

Former Michigan football player Josh Uche signs with Eagles

The Wolverines are known for having pass rushers drafted into the NFL. One of those players is Josh Uche, who was selected by the Patriots in the third round of the 2020 NFL draft.

During the first four seasons of his career, Uche was credited with 18.5 sacks. Last season, with the Patriots and Chiefs, he had just two sacks, but he is still just two seasons removed from notching 11.5 sacks.

The Eagles, who just lost some pass rush talent in Josh Sweat to free agency, have added Uche on a one-year (prove it) deal. The terms of the deal weren't released by the Eagles but it's a great landing spot for the Michigan football alum, and a low-risk, high-reward move for the defending Super Bowl champions.
