Bryce Underwood hasn't entered the transfer portal. He also hasn't confirmed his status for the 2026 season, at least not yet.
That could change, though, and soon.
Michigan football head coach Kyle Whittingham hinted that an announcement about the future of Bryce Underwood could be coming soon. That was during an interview on Monday morning with Dave Portnoy.
On Monday afternoon, the Michigan football program's official account on X posted this: "Big news on the way for Team 147. LFG!!!"

That post was accompanied by a picture of Tom Brady. Based on everything that's happening right now, it feels like that message can only mean one thing: Bryce Underwood is coming back for the 2026 season.
There hasn't been anything official from Underwood yet. However, the indications were always that he was going to stick around and play for Michigan football. He started all 13 games as a freshman, after flipping from LSU.
Some fans were disappointed by his play, but make no mistake, Underwood is the kind of talent you can win a national championship with, especially now that Jason Beck will be calling the plays.
There are some questions about other Michigan players, such as Andrew Marsh, but if Underwood is truly back in the fold, that will help with the recruiting efforts of Marsh and others. It also signals that Michigan has the money things figured out in terms of NIL. That's a positive moving forward as Whittingham tries to keep this roster together and add to it.
