Michigan football landed some solid pieces from the transfer portal but according to 247 Sports, the Wolverines class ranks 38th with 10 signees.
The Wolverines went into the transfer portal window with a bevy of needs. They were able to address the defensive line with productive players from Clemson and Alabama at defensive tackle. They also added some depth in the secondary and a former starter in TJ Metcalf.
Michigan football also added a quarterback in Mikey Keene who can compete with Bryce Underwood and hold down the job if needed until he's ready. There were some offensive linemen added -- Brady Norton and Lawrence Hattar. However, both are transferring up, so there is a question about what kind of impact they can have on the team next season.
Of course, there has been plenty of discussion about wide receivers. Michigan football has added two so far and fans might be underrating the impact of Donaven McCulley, formerly from Indiana.
At any rate, according to Pete Nakos of On3.com, Michigan football is one of the teams with needs to fill this spring in the transfer portal window. In this article, Nakos wrote that the Wolverines were going to be "aggressive" in targeting wide receivers.
The offensive line will also be a focus, especially offensive tackle. Michigan is pushing to add former Notre Dame starter Rocco Spindler, a 23-game starter for Irish at guard, so that could satisfy a need inside but Michigan still needs a starting-caliber offensive tackle.
It's one thing to say that Michigan is going to be aggressive. Other teams are too and the pickings are sometimes slim, so hopefully, things work out better than they did in the winter window, at least at offensive tackle.
