One of the best moves that Sherrone Moore has made as Michigan football head coach was hiring Sean Magee to be the Wolveriners general manager.
The former Chief of Staff for the Chicago Bears, worked at Michigan football before under Jim Harbaugh and his return has been essential to a resurgence on the recruiting trail. He's been a big driving behind NIL deals and always evaluating talent with his NFL background.
Magee has worked to put in a salary cap type of structure, trying to ensure that the Michigan Wolverines are putting the correct value on certain positions like quarterback or offensive tackle.
We saw the impact Magee had down the stretch of the 2025 recruiting class for the Michigan Wolverines. However, he might not be around much longer as the Naval Academy is seriously considering Magee as its next athletic director, according to Chris Balas of The Wolverine.

Other programs have been paying their general managers over a million dollars. Michigan football needs to do the same with Magee -- get him a big raise and see if that's enough to get him to stay.
Either way, it's something to monitor going forward. Many of these recruitments are coming down to NIL. When Michigan football has been able to play that game, as it did in the 2025 cycle, it was pretty successful.
So far in 2026, things seem a little stagnant. The Michigan Wolverines have been trending with a few 2026 recruits, but they need to start closing. They also need to do whatever they can to keep Sean Magee around as the Michigan football GM as long as possible.
A no-hitter for Michigan baseball
In a mid-week game against Akron, Michigan baseball pitcher Tate Carey threw the first no-hitter for the Michigan Wolverines since 1994.
Carey tossed seven innings of no-hit baseball, which was a complete game due to the run rule. Carey struck out four batters in the 13-0 win for the Wolverines. He allowed one walk.
Cole Caruso added his 200th hit during a three-hit day for the Michigan Wolverines. Benny Casillas did the same as he had two hits to reach 200, as well as two RBI. Jeter Ybarra was 3-for-3 with a home run and two runs scored.
The Wolverines are now 18-14 on the season.
Michigan Wolverines projected to land another transfer portal target
Dusty May and the Michigan Wolverines have been projected to land another transfer portal stud, Aday Mara from UCLA, at least according to Joe Tipton of On3.com's projection.
Mara is 7-foot-3 and was ranked as a five-star by 247 Sports coming out of high school. He didn't play a ton of minutes for UCLA last season, but was highly productive, averaging 6.4 points per game and four rebounds per game. He also shot 59 percent of his 2-point attempts and averaged 1.6 blocks.
Mara was even getting some NBA draft buzz. With more minutes, he could easily produce the way that Vlad Goldin did last season and would be another transfer portal home run.
Both Michigan basketball teams end up in final top 25
The men's basketball team finished 10th in the final AP poll released on Tuesday morning, which is quite a turnaround from an 8-24 season. After winning a game in the NCAA women's basketball tournament, Michigan finished the season ranked 25th after starting three freshmen.
The future for both programs is freaking bright.
