Michigan football beers, bets and bites for Week 8 against Illinois
Michigan football is on the road for a massively important Big Ten showdown tomorrow vs the Illinois Fighting Illini. The game kicks off at 3:30 PM eastern time and will be broadcast on CBS. This will be the headliner for all us Michigan fans but it is part of a great Saturday slate of college football. We are here to make it even better by adding a prop bet, a gameday recipe, and a good beer to enjoy while watching the games.
Gameday recipe: Philly cheesesteak sliders
Ingredients: ribeye steak, bell peppers, yellow onion, provolone cheese, butter, hoagie roll or Cuban bread.
Philly cheesesteaks are a delicious and easy meal to make on a college football Saturday. Start by freezing your ribeye so it is easier to slice. You will slice the ribeye into thin pieces. Next, slice your bell peppers and onion into about 1/2 inch thick pieces. I like to use a variety of colored bell peppers but you can use any type you would like. Once you have your griddle or pan heated on the grill, toast the buns to your liking. I prefer my bun to be less toasted but that is personal preference. Next, you will put your peppers and onion into the pan along with salt, pepper and butter.
Sauté the vegetables down until they are soft and have a light char on them. Once they are almost cooked through, place them all on one side of the pan and you will add the sliced ribeye to the other side. The ribeye will cook quickly because it is sliced thin so flip and stir the pieces often. Once both the meat and veggies are cooked, you will mix them together in the pan and add your provolone cheese on top. Once the cheese is melty, you can scoop it all onto your bun and enjoy! We prefer sliders but you can also eat it as a whole sandwich, too! A good beer to pair this with is a Little Sumpin Sumpin, from Lagunitas Brewery. A delicious IPA with an ABV of 7.5%.
Michigan football week 8 prop bet: Tyler Morris over 17 receiving yards at -125.
The anticipation of what this Michigan football offense is going to look like is at an all-time high right now for Michigan fans with Jack Tuttle being named the starter.
Michigan's passing attack has been nothing short of abysmal this year so far. However, that should change (at least a little bit) this week with Tuttle under center. Tyler Morris has 7 catches for 51 yards and a touchdown this year, so he's not exactly lighting the world on fire. However, we have seen Morris' potential shine through in certain moments, like last year's Rose Bowl game when he took a 3rd and 10 crossing route to the house for a touchdown.
Morris was a big recruit out of high school and the talent is clearly there. He is an elite route runner with velcro hands. Illinois likes to play a lot of man coverage or man free coverage so Morris is going to have his opportunities to get open. I like this bet because it can hit on one reception or he can turn into the go-to guy and rack up catches throughout the game. I think Tyler Morris has his best game of the year and eclipses the 17-yard mark to put money in our pocket.
