Michigan football beers, bets and bites for week 13 vs Northwestern

Michigan football is back in action as they welcome the Northwestern Wildcats to Ann Arbor for senior day at the Big House. We have a recipe, beer and prop bet to make your Saturday even better.

Recipe: Chili

Start by boiling three cups of water and pouring it over three dried guajilo chiles, three dried ancho chiles and a can of chipotle peppers in adobo. Let it sit for about 25 minutes until softened and then blend.

Dice bacon and cook until the fat is rendered. Reserve the bacon for later and also the fat as you will use it to aide with cooking the rest of the ingredients later.

Next, cube chuck roast (we do two pounds and it makes about four meals for us) into 1/2 inch cubes and season it with salt and pepper. Mix in the bacon and remove it all onto a plate and set it aside for later.

Brown one large yellow onion with ground beef. We used one pound of ground beef for the two of us. Add tomatoes of choice (we used fire roasted infused with ghost peppers because we like our food spicy). Add your beans (black beans, and kidney beans). Now, you will add the blended pepper sauce you made earlier as well as the chuck roast cubes and bacon. Season the whole mixture with garlic, cumin and oregano. Next, add a stout beer of your choice to the mixture. We used a Guinness!

Lastly, let the whole mixture in the pot cook stove top for about 2.5 hours or until the chuck roast is tender enough to break apart with a fork. Once your chili is ready to serve, you can add all your favorite fixings. We love frit scoops, sour cream, diced red onion, cheddar cheese, bacon, jalapenos, and cilantro. A great beer to drink with chili is "Y'all" from Prairie brewery. It is a hazy IPA with an ABV of 6%. We just discovered this and it is one of our new favorites.

Michigan football prop bet: Under 36.5 points

This is one of those lines that catches your eye because it is so preposterously low. The casual fan will look at this line and immediately think the over is going to hit but I do not see it that way. The temperature is going to be about 45 degrees at kickoff and I think we are going to see a defensive battle. I think Michigan football is going to hold Northwestern under 10 points and our offense will score around 21. I am predicting a 21-10 final for the Wolverines victory and a hit on our bet. Go Blue!
