2024 will be remembered as one of the highest of highs and lowest of lows type of season. This current design of Michigan football would have probably beaten Washington, Illinois, and Indiana and made the playoffs. The defense ascended and was a quarterback away from a much different outcome to the season. Thankfully expectations for 2025 are already skyrocketing and it will be a crying shame if Michigan doesn't get to the playoffs this time next year.
Here are three of the most outrageous overreactions from social media following Michigan's grand bowl win in Tampa.
1. Alabama didn't want to be there anyways
This tweet came from Barrett Sallee on Tuesday. As usual, he was crucified for it by some. To me, it is more of an excuse, but let's call it an overreaction for argument's sake. Sallee is an SEC enthusiast, just like Paul Finebaum. Jim Harbaugh and Michigan football fans know him all too well.
Sure Alabama wanted to be in the playoff, but they were still playing most of their starters and didn't quit fighting when they got down by 16. Michigan just wanted to win it more even with a depleted roster. Their defense did the same thing to the Buckeyes by squeezing the life out of them.
It's easy to say the Tide would have been in a better situation if they didn't turn the ball over three times in the first quarter. Michigan's defense was just to stifling to Jalen Milroe and company. Nick Sheridan couldn't figure Wink Martindale's unit out.
