Rivalries are everywhere. In families, in sports and everyday life. They are a fabric of our society as humans. It can bring out the good and also nastiness in us. We've seen what this rivalry means to both schools and especially Michigan State who hasn't beaten their in-state brother for over 1,000 plus days now.
As low as things continue to sink between the two, to call for the banishment of this matchup is nonsense. It is an overreaction that cannot be argued. It is a staple of the sport, just like going to work or sleeping.
Time heels all wounds, but some will never live it down because they are that flawed.
Although it is not talked about much, there is a good side to this fierce relationship. For example go back to when John Beilein had heart surgery and Tom Izzo reached out to him. It proves that families and friends can still love each other after one team loses. People will take their jabs at one another, but most do it in subtle fashion with nice intentions.
