It wasn't easy and there was some controversy late in the action, but No. 3 Michigan was able to get the job done on Tuesday night against No. 5 Nebraska. Michigan fans were a bit worried, especially with Nebraska in front for most of the night.
Dusty May calls out freshman moment that changed everything against Nebraska
However, the Wolverines stepped up when it mattered and handed the Cornhuskers their first loss of the season. While people in Ann Arbor are still celebrating the win, that doesn't mean that everything was all positive for Dusty May and his players.
Per the FanDuel Sportsbook, Michigan had -110 Final Four odds before things went final vs. Nebraska. With the game being so close despite UM being a double-digit favorite, the oddsmakers in Vegas took notice, with Michigan now at +115 to be among the last four teams standing.
Michigan's National Championship odds also dropped after a close win over Nebraska
Not only that, but Michigan previously had +470 odds to win the natty per FanDuel, but that's now currently at +500. Is this something for the Michigan faithful to worry about? Not at all, as there's still plenty of time until the Big Ten Tournament and NCAA Tourney arrive.
With that said, Michigan was far from its best against Nebraska and there's still a lot for May to clean up. Nebraska fans are quick to point out that the Cornhuskers went toe-to-toe with Michigan despite both Rienk Mast and Braden Frager not being able to suit up. Had they been on the floor, who knows how this game would have turned out.
Come Friday night, another MASSIVE test is on the way for Day and Co., as the Wolverines will be headed to East Lansing to take on No. 7 Michigan State. Tom Izzo is going to be motivated to take down his in-state rival, but it will be on the Michigan playmakers to prevent that from happening. With a win for the Wolverines, we can expect both the Final Four and national title odds to change once again.
