Earlier this season, Michigan basketball won at the Breslin Center for the first time in eight years.

On Sunday, the Wolverines, who are ranked third, will try to achieve something else they haven't in quite some time against the Spartans, ranked ninth. That's a season sweep.

The last time it happened was back in 2014. Michigan won the Big Ten regular-season championship that year and advanced to the Elite 8.

That team also wasn't nearly as good as this team. Michigan is essentially locked into a No. 1 seed at this point. It has an 18-1 record in the Big Ten, and just wrapped up the first undefeated road season since 1975-76. That was the Indiana team that went undefeated under Bob Knight, Dusty May's mentor, and won the national championship.

That Indiana team also went 9-0 in Big Ten road games. Michigan basketball went 10-0 this season, after a 71-68 win over Iowa on Thursday night.

This game could matter for Michigan State in terms of NCAA tournament seeding. Not really for Michigan. The Wolverines are already the top seed for the Big Ten tournament, but that doesn't mean it doesn't matter.

Far from it, especially after all the bad blood from the first game. Tom Izzo even said the Spartans were going to bring it on Sunday. So expect a war.

Michigan favored to beat Michigan State again

Still, it's a war the Vegas oddsmakers expect Michigan to win. The Wolverines (28-2) are 10.5-point favorites against Michigan State with an over/under set for 150.5

10.5 points seems a little high, but not if you remember the Wolverines have already beaten Michigan State, Purdue, and Illinois on the road by double digits. Michigan beat UCLA at home by double figures, too.

Even if the Spartans cover the spread, as long as the final result favors the Maize and Blue, you won't find any Michgan fans complaining.

Tip-off is set for 4:30 PM EST on CBS.
