After an impressive week with close wins over Purdue and Ohio State, Michigan basketball has jumped up to #12 in the AP poll, their highest ranking all year. While there have been plenty of frustrating moments over the past handful of games, the Wolverines just keep finding ways to win in close games. And that's a skill that will be very valuable in March.

The Wolverines are the 2nd highest-ranked team in the Big Ten, behind #11 Wisconsin, who the Wolverines beat in Wisconsin earlier this season. The Badgers are on fire and fresh off of a double-digit win at Purdue. Speaking of Purdue, the Boilermakers check in at #13 in this week's poll. Michigan State, who the Wolverines take on in Ann Arbor on Friday, are #14, setting up a massive matchup that will also have Big Ten title implications.

Michigan basketball has amazing season under Dusty May

The Wolverines also made the recent bracket prediction released by the NCAA selection committee. Michigan basketball was projected as a No. 4 seed before the win over Ohio State.

Michigan basketball is leading the way in the Big Ten, and with a victory over Michigan State, the Wovlerines could help themselves out in a big way in their pursuit of the regular season championship. Dusty May has done an absolutely incredible job with the Wolverines this season. A year ago, the Wolverines finished last in the Big Ten. Now, they're the favorite to win the Big Ten.

The Wolverines will look to move even farther up in the polls if they can beat Michigan State. It's a great time to be a Michigan basketball fan.
