There are a few developments to stay apprised of in the transfer portal as Michigan basketball is rebuilding its roster for the 2025-26 season.
Michigan basketball added former five-star point guard Elliot Cadeau on Monday. He's a dynamic playmaker, and his addition got mostly positive reactions. One expert even graded it as an A+.
The Wolverines have more work to do, though. There are a few roster spots still available. Michigan basketball needs two bigs, and there are some worthwhile candidates, although, reports of the Wolverines being interested in Malik Reneau were not accurate.
Wouldn’t pay too much attention to this one if you’re a Michigan fan. Wolverines looking elsewhere. https://t.co/LJre73NFpk

Another big man that Michigan is interested in is former Illinois forward Morez Johnson. The 6-foot-9 big man averaged 7.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in just 17 minutes per game.
Johnson isn't a 3-point shooter, but shot 64 percent from the field last season. The Wolverines are among the finalists, according to John Rothstein, along with Kansas, Ohio State, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Arkansas. NIL will be a factor here, so it's hard to know if Michigan is willing to meet his demands, but Johnson checks all the boxes in terms of what U-M needs out of a big man.
BIG news expected as a transfer portal target to decide
Davis Moseley is a known Michigan basketball insider and he posted on X that he expects "BIG news" for the Wolverines on Tuesday.
Expecting good news for the Wolverines at some point today.

BIG news. (not April fools)
Purdue Fort Wayne guard Jalen Jackson is expected to announce a commitment on Tuesday. Maybe that's related. Maybe not. Things happen quickly in the portal. The Wolverines held a Zoom call with Jackson earlier this week, however, would Michigan add another guard after adding Cadeau?

The 6-2 junior averaged 19.2 PPG this season. https://t.co/nDerLAQYNh
Michigan needs a big and the tease of Moseley seems clear about the good news being a big man, so there could be some positive movement there.
Maryland's Rodney Rice, who connected on 80 3-pointers last season, shooting 37 percent, at 6-foot-4, would be another great fit. The Wolverines have made contact, so it's a name to have on the radar but it's early.
Watch out for a commitment. Johnson would be ideal, but Magoon Gwath is also a favorite of mine and the Wolverines are in the mix for him, too.
