With just under a month left in the regular season, it is a good time to look at where Michigan basketball could be placed in the NCAA Tournament field, assuming they sustain the level of success that they have.

According to ESPN's Joe Lunardi Michigan is a projected 5 seed, however, this projection came out before Tuesday's big 75-73 win over Purdue at Crisler Center.

The Wolverines can see this number shrink as they can have a very managable end of the regular season schedule to rack up some more wins.

However, the Wolverines still do have a few challenging games left on the schedule. Starting February 21st in their first of two meetings with #11 Michigan State at 8:00ET on FOX (the other one being on March 9th at Michigan State at 12:00PM on CBS). The other would be March 5th versus #25 Maryland at 6:30 on BTN. All of these contests would qualify as Quad 1 games that would add to the Michigan basketball resume in order to get the highest seed possible.

The Wolverines are 6-3 in Quad 1 contests as well as 5-2 in Quad 2 contests. On top of that, they have a really strong NET ranking of 17, so their resume is already very compelling and could be better.

Michigan basketball will resume this quest to March this Sunday, February 16th, traveling to Columbus to take on rival Ohio State. Tip-off will be at 1:00 on FOX.

Michigan basketball has the opportunity to set itself up for success this March. The Wolverines could even be as high as a 1 seed if they win these games. They just need to take advantage of these opportunities.
