Michigan Basketball is back and boy did they create some carnage on night one of the marathon. Dusty May's transformed team cruised to a near 50-point win. Last year their biggest win was 30, so they already surpassed that in 40 minutes. It wasn't the stiffest competition, but it created some buzz around the landscape of college basketball.
Here's three takeaways from the tip-off of the new era of Michigan Basketball.
1. Tre Donaldson already set a new milestone on his first night
The new Michigan point guard has been around the program for a minute and is already making strides. He set himself up with a new career high in points for his career on Monday. The most he scored at Auburn was 15 a season ago. He was also perfect from the floor and at the free throw line too.
Donaldson saw a team-high 27 minutes in the win. Taking the place of Dug McDaniel was a tall task, but he already matched McDaniel's season average from a year ago in one game. One glaring stat that stands out for him is that he didn't have any turnovers, where the rest of the Wolverines committed 16 of them.
McDaniel had six or less turnovers in all of his sophomore campaign in Ann Arbor. The most turnovers that Donaldson had in a contest last year was four.
