Down 11 in the first half, Michigan basketball fought back valiantly to grab the lead by halftime. About midway through the second, they started to pull away and snatch the victory to advance to the championship game of the Fort Myers Tip-Off where they will bang in the paint with an undefeated Xavier bunch. For Michigan, it would be a March win in November, if they can seize it.

Here are some of the takeaways from the businesslike win over the Hokies.

1. Brandon Rechsteiner got to play against his dad's alma mater

The sophomore point from Georgia caught my eye when I knew I recognized his name from somewhere. Then the broadcast confirmed it. His dad, Scott, is a Michigan wrestling legend, along with his uncle. His cousin is a current WWE superstar as well. I wouldn't be surprised if in about 10 years from now we see Brandon appear on WWE television, if he doesn't make it big in the pros.

He had eight on the night, but committed four fouls. Toibu Lawal was their leading scorer and showcased some of his rare athleticism, that even got him compared to the greatest of all-time. Jaydon Young was the only other Hokie to secure double digits. Nonetheless everyone who played got on the stat sheet for the losing team.
