When Danny Wolf and Vlad Goldin wake up on Saturday morning, they will probably have black eyes from Friday night's tussle in Indy. Fletcher Loyer injured his arm while falling to the floor, attempting to save the ball. Then there was Trey Kaufman-Renn, who had the refs blowing the whistles for him repeatedly as he went to the free-throw line a game-high 10 times. Player of the year Braden Smith was relatively insignificant for the second consecutive outing as Michigan basketball moves on to a rematch with Maryland after an 86-68 win.

Here are three of the takeaways from Friday's late night victory to stop the losing skid.

1. This is Michigan's first double-digit win since January

Two months ago Michigan basketball comfortably won their lone meeting over Washington this season. That was the last time the Wolverines bested an opponent by more than four points. The one coincidence was that the maize and blue held a four-point advantage heading into the locker room and busted it open in the second half.

Michigan shot 65% after the break and might have played its best half of basketball all year. They were 69% from two point range, shooting 22-32. Danny Wolf had his 14th double-double of the season. Tre Donaldson's three triples sparked the offense to play at a level that we haven't seen since the first month of 2025. Michigan's bench even contributed its highest output since the Rutgers win.
