What in the world was he thinking? That's what plenty of Michigan Wolverines fans must have been thinking. In case you somehow missed it, a video went viral of Michigan standout Mitchell Voit over the weekend thanks to some not-so smart antics from him on the diamond.
In a game against USC, Voit slid into third base, was safe and decided to celebrate in style. However, his move was one that had to infuriate head coach Tracy Smith and the rest of his staff. That's because Voit decided to pretend the 3rd-base chalk was cocaine and he fake snorted it.
Seriously? From the moment Voit decided to pull off this stunt, the play got clipped and it was posted all over social media. Voit knows he made a big mistake, which is why he decided to post an apology for his silly behavior:

Michigan's Mitchell Voit apologized after pretending 3rd-base chalk was cocaine
"I would like to apologize for my actions on third base yesterday," Voit said in this statement. "I made an immature decision in the heat of the moment. The gesture I made does not reflect my character, the household I was raised in, or the block M that I represent in any kind of way. I take full responsibility for what I did, and I am truly sorry to all those who I have negatively impacted by doing this."
The good thing here is that Voit didn't waste much time in realizing he made a huge mistake. It's one thing to have fun with your teammates and have a laugh, but it's something else when your gaffe is viewed by millions of people and it puts a bit of a black eye on the university as a whole.
Voit didn't mince words with his apology, proving he knows that he can't act like this in the future, especially when he's donning a Michigan jersey. College kids make mistakes all the time, but this is something Smith should and will be taking seriously. This should serve as a reminder to the rest of the team that every single guy in the clubhouse always has eyes on them.
