It has been a tough season for Michigan football fans.

But on Saturday, there was a moment in the second half that was a reminder of why we love sports.

Former Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr, who led the Wolverines to the national championship in 1997, along with wins over Ohio State in 1995, 1996, 1997, 1999, and 2003, got to witness his grandson Tommy Carr scoring his first touchdown in the Wolverines 21-18 win over Penn State.

It was an awesome moment. What made it even better was Lloyd's reaction, which was caught by the CBS cameras.

Not only was Carr at the game watching Tommy Carr, but he was sitting with Brian Griese, the starting quarterback for the Wolverines' 1997 national championship team. Griese is seen celebrating with Carr, who appears to say "Wow" about the 10-yard touchdown run.

It was a critical point in the game, too. Carr entered the day as the backup. The job might be his to lose now. He completed 5 of 7 passes. He also had 36 rushing yards and a touchdown. Beyond that, he made great decisions, took care of the ball, and gave the team a spark.

Michigan's defense forced three turnovers. The running game also got going, as the Wolverines totaled 175 rushing yards after gaining just 36 on the ground in the first half.

As rough as things have been, Michigan is 4-2. It feels like there's a chance this team could be 6-0 right now if Carr had been starting all along. Bryce Underwood handled the decision with grace. He was seen cheering for Carr and even celebrating with him on the field.

Both players are under pressure. Carr for reasons that are different than Underwood. Still, it was heartwarming to see such a great moment.

Speaking to the media after the game, Tommy was asked what it was like to score a touchdown and get the win with his grandpa in attendance.

"It was awesome," Carr said to Tracy Wolfson after the game. "It was great. I think he's here, so I will see him after the game. The O-line played great. The defense came up huge."

Wolfson told Carr that Lloyd was in the stadium. She also informed him about his grandpa's smile when Tommy scored his first touchdown as a Michigan football quarterback.

"I can't wait to see him," he said.
