Following Michigan basketball's win over Penn State, ESPN updated their latest bracketology projections for the 2025 NCAA tournament.
The Wolverines have dropped a little since their win over UCLA but they remained a No. 5 seed, despite a lopsided loss to Purdue last Friday.
It looked like Michigan basketball might be in line for a second straight loss and the first at home this season on Monday against Penn State. The Nittany Lions grabbed a five-point lead with just over two minutes left before Tre Donaldson sparked a 9-0 run.
The Michigan point guard hit a step-back 3-pointer to take the lead with just over 20 seconds left and scored seven of the last nine points. That allowed Michigan basketball to remain a No. 5 seed. U-M is projected to be in Seattle against Yale which would be ineresting with it being Danny Wolf's old team.
Michigan women's basketball team also projected to make NCAA tournament
The Michigan women's basketball team is projected as a No. 7 seed. Michiga is trending up even with a loss against Michigan State on Saturday at home.
Michigan also had a road game against a ranked Minnesota team and won. That's now the best win on the resume for the Wolverines who are 14-6 overall and 5-4 in the Big Ten.
The Wolverines haven't lost to any teams ranked outside the top 25 yet. They are projected as a No. 7 seed in the Birmingham Region. The opponent would be Harvard, at least according to the latest Women's NCAA Tournament projections from ESPN.
