Every time Kyle Whittingham opens his mouth about Michigan football, it gets worse.
Whether it's Whittingham agreeing that bad calls were bad calls, but acting like he, as the head coach, didn't have the power to change them, or his endorsement of the Rhino and Jason Beck, or his lack of fire about Michigan State, Ohio State, whatever.
Every time he speaks, you feel worse about the Michigan football program. His lack of understanding about the Michigan State game has me worried about Saturday. This 66-year-old man has no idea what he's gotten himself into.
Case in point, his latest apperance on The Inside Michigan Football Show. Whittingham actually said that he enjoyed re-watching the Rutgers game on Sunday. He called it "pleasurable."

I literally just finished the episode of the Saban documentary where he called a coaches meeting at 730 the next morning after winning the natty, and then I immediately get on here and read this. https://t.co/63r4eLCSpN

Michigan football head coach Kyle Whittingham has lost touch with reality
The reality is that the Wolverines needed a fourth-quarter touchdown drive to beat one of the worst teams in the Big Ten.
That's not something Whittingham should be happy about. He should be pissed that his team played down to the competition, that they allowed multiple plays of more than 50 yards, and that against the worst run defense in the conference, Michigan still couldn't establish any semblance of a running game.
Whittingham should have been throwing things at the TV. Instead, he seems satisfied with beating Rutgers by seven, which only reinforces how in over his head Whittingham is at the helm of Michigan football.
It was clear from the first game that Whittingham wasn't up to the job. That Western Michigan game looked like something that was straight out of the Brady Hoke era. Things have only gotten worse from there.
Michigan lost a game because its offensive coordinator wanted to throw a touchdown to the Rhino to prove how smart he is, instead of running QB sneak on back-to-back plays.
If Jason Beck had simply done that, if Kyle Whittingham had been paying attention and told his offensive coordinator to run the ball twice, Michigan football would have been ranked last night in the initial College Football Playoff rankings.
Instead, the Wolverines are 5-3, stuck with a head coach that's too clueless to understand how poorly he's actually doing.
