Michigan football head coach Kyle Whittingham confirmed that there won't be any major changes on the offensive side of the ball before the game against Penn State.
Whittingham said that while Tommy Carr got some good reps in practice, Underwood will start the game on Saturday with Jason Beck calling the plays.
Kyle Whittingham says Michigan took a step back against Minnesota, and has to tailor the offense better and fix the turnover margin.

It doesn't seem that newsworthy. Despite Whittingham saying some tough decisions needed to be made, it's not like he was going to fire the offensive coordinator. People calling for Tommy Carr to start right now are being premature.
During his weekly press conference on Monday, Whttingham said that he feels Underwood gives Michigan football the best chance to win.

"6'4, 230, runs like the wind and has a cannon arm. He can make every throw and then some. He has a whole year of experience under his belt last year and five games this year, so that being the case and looking at the room as a whole, we still feel he gives us the best chance to win," Whittingham said via Brice Marich.
Michigan needs to tailor the offense to Bryce Underwood
Whittingham made an interesting point, saying that the Wolverines need to tailor the offense to the former five-star quarterback. When Underwood is rattled, his accuracy goes by the wayside. Yet, when he's comfortable, he can make any throw you ask of him.
That kind of arm talent, along with the athleticism, shouldn't be given up on after a few rough games. The next seven games are about winning as many as possible and finding a way to make Bryce Underwood a successful college quarterback.
The defense is championship-caliber. It feels like it will continue to be. Michigan has the running back and offensive line talent to have a quality running game, especially with Underwood. So Jason Beck needs to design an offense that suits the young quarterback.
Using the Rhino less would help. Who knows if that will happen. Regardless, Underwood has every tool you would want a quarterback to have. Urban Meyer said he thinks he's the only guy on Michigan's team who looks like a first-round pick.
That might be a little hasty, but Underwood surely has all the talent in the world. If Michigan coaches can't find a way to build a successful offense with him, it says more about their coaching ability than it does about Underwood.
