Things are really rocking now for Michigan football and new head coach Kyle Whittingham. The new Michigan leader is making quite the splash this week, finalizing some big-name hires, of course including bringing in OC Jason Beck and DC Jay Hill.
Kyle Whittingham adds another big-time coach to his Michigan staff
However, there are some underrated moves being made in Ann Arbor that Michigan fans should be paying attention to. On Thursday, news dropped that Whittingham has brought in former Penn State wide receivers coach Marques Hagans to join UM as an assistant WRs coach for the Wolverines. This feels like a great move overall for the Wolverines:

Michigan and Kyle Whittingham have added former Penn State WRs coach Marques Hagans to the staff
As noted by ESPN's Adam Rittenberg, Hagans has previous experience with Beck, as the two were on the staff together at Virginia. Hagans was a former standout defensive back for Virginia, which led to him getting drafted in the fifth round of the 2005 NFL Draft.
He then suited up for the Rams, Chiefs, Colts and Redskins before making the switch to the coaching ranks. Hagans returned to Virginia as a grad assistant in 2011-12 and then he was the UVA receivers coach from 2013-2022.
Then for the past three seasons, Hagans has been the WRs coach for the Nittany Lions, but with James Franklin getting fired and Matt Campbell coming in, the writing was on the wall for Hagans with the Nittany Lions. Luckily for him, Michigan and Whittingham came calling.
With all of his experience, Hagans moving to Michigan as an assistant receivers coach feels like a bit of a steal for the program. Whittingham has been making so many great staff calls and this is one that people simply can't sleep on.
Things are only going to be made better for Michigan fans everywhere if Bryce Underwood decides to stay put and not enter the portal. Despite the loss to Texas, it really feels like better days are coming for the Wolverines with Whittingham in charge.
