On Friday, August 28, a report came out that six former Utah players were coming forward with accusations against former Utah and now Michigan head coach Kyle Whittingham and his staff, stating he pushed them to return from injury earlier than was best advised by the medical staff.
Both Utah, it's new head coach, Morgan Scalley, who served as Whittingham's defensive coordinator, and Whittingham have denied these allegations. Yet, Whittingham recently went on The Dan Patrick Show and spoke more on the matter.
"Never in my career have I ever tried to sway or influence medical staff wherever I have been," Whittingham said. "We listen to the medical staff, if they say a player is available, we go with that, but if they say he's not available, we go with that."

Now, it's not like Whittingham was going to tell Patrick that he did what he is accused of if he did actually force players to return sooner than they should have from injury.
Michigan can't afford another scandal if accusations against Kyle Whittingham are true
When The Salt Lake Tribune released the story about these six players making these accusations, it is hard not to believe them. I mean, six players coming together to share similar stories of treatment at Utah, but ultimately, until an investigation takes place, accusations are just that.
Michigan has seen its fair share of scandals in the past few years, and when Whittingham was hired, there was a hope that the drama would be left in the past. To this point, Whittingham has kept this program strictly focused on football, and that should continue going forward, but these accusations have to make Michigan fans feel a little bit of deja vu.
If at any point it comes out that these allegations were true, even though it didn't happen at Michigan, it still would be a bad look for the Wolverines. Now, Whittingham isn't a perfect coach, but it seems like, since being in Ann Arbor, things have looked good, with players coming out and speaking very highly of their new head coach.
There are a few things that might raise some questions about Whittingham's time at Utah, like when quarterback Cam Rising was dealing with an injury two seasons ago. Every week, it was said that Rising would be ready to go, but suddenly, on game day, he wouldn't play, which made some wonder if Whittingham wasn't using the injury report correctly.
Now, that doesn't sound like Whittingham trying to rush Rising back before he was medically ready; if anything, it feels more like mind games with Whittingham keeping whether or not his QB would be on the field under wraps.
Hopefully these allegations are not true for the sake of Whittngham, and honestly Michigan, which just can't deal with another scandal.
