As far as health goes, things have been a little up and down for Michigan football.

There was the season-ending injury to Andrew Babalola, which could prove to be a huge blow for the Wolverines offensive line.

If Evan Link plays well at left tackle, it won't be as punitive. But Link could have been an option at right guard, too, once Babalola was ready for the left tackle job. The five-star freshman might not have won the job to start the season, but probably would have won it by the end.

Now, Michigan is relying on Link at left tackle and Brady Norton at right guard. It's not ideal for either position. Link was a four-star recruit and has experience. Norton was an FCS All-American last year.

Rod Moore injury update

We'll see how that translates on Saturday. Yet, one player we won't see on Saturday, according to Chris Balas of The Wolverine, is Rod Moore.

Moore has made progress in his return from a season-ending injury suffered in the spring of 2024. Hogan Hansen is expected to be out, too. There is a chance that both players return next week for the first road game of the season against Oklahoma.

It would have been ideal to have them return this week, but next week Oklahoma would be the preferable game to play. However, players are also rusty, it seems, in that first game back from injury.

Tre Williams, the Clemson transfer, has also been limited, according to Balas. He could see the field against New Mexico but could have a limited snap count. Williams was supposed to help fill the void left by Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant.

Now, Trey Pierce and others have emerged. Michigan has for the most part, avoided the injury bug, but there are at least a few guys that will be held out, although if Oklahoma was on the schedule this week, there's a chance we might see them.
