The WNBA preseason kicked off this past weekend and was full of first-time appearances and amazing returns to the court. Former Michigan women's basketball player Jordan Hobbs made her first appearance in a WNBA jersey with the Seattle Storm, but it didn't last very long.
Hobbs saw the court for all of five minutes with the Storm in their preseason matchup with the Connecticut Sun, in which the Storm walked away with the 79-59 win. Hobbs took just two shots, one in the paint and one from beyond the arc, and missed both, but she did record three defensive rebounds and one steal while on the court.
It took all of one game for the Storm to make their decision on Hobbs and have decided to release her from the team, according to a press release from the team.
The Seattle Storm have waived Madison Conner and Jordan Hobbs.

There was some question as to whether the Storm would choose to release many rookies, as they have now lost three players in the last eight months due to ACL tears. Katie Lou Samuelson tore her ACL during the Storm's preseason game on Saturday, May 3. Jordan Horston tore her ACL back in February, playing in the AU Pro Basketball league, and Nika Muhl tore her ACL back in October 2024, playing with the Turkish Club Besiktas.
The Storm did end up choosing to make cuts, and with her limited time on the court on Saturday, Hobbs was one of them, fellow rookie Maddison Conner being the other. With the WNBA season still a few weeks away, teams could still be looking to sign or release players, giving Hobbs an opportunity to live out her WNBA dream.
Hobbs was the only Michigan player to be taken in the 2025 WNBA Draft, and now that she is no longer with the Storm, could shop around with other teams, or officially choose to close the door on her basketball career.
