This Michigan team is special, and everyone knows it, including Michigan legend Jalen Rose. The Wolverines have not won a National Championship in basketball since 1989, and they have also battled with the football team for which team defines the university.

Head coach Dusty May has brought Michigan basketball back to the standard it once had, and he has done it in just two short years with recruiting and a modern play style. The biggest acquisition he brought in during the offseason was Yaxel Lendeborg, who immediately became a star in Ann Arbor.

Rose knows what Lendeborg means to this team, and when talking about whether or not this team is better than the 1989 team, he might have just given the star guard a little motivation.

"If they go and win it all, of course, it is time to have the conversation, '89 vs. this team," Rose said after the Wolverines win over Alabama.

Yaxel Lendeborg has his sights set on a Natty with Michigan and nothing will stop him

After Michigan's convincing win over Alabama in the Sweet 16 to punch their ticket to the Elite Eight, Yaxel Lendeborg was very open and honest about what he wants from his team.

"We might be the best Michigan team ever. We're gonna try to go for that," Lendeborg said.

This is one of the most complete teams that Michigan has had on the hardwood in a very long time, and really has fans thinking a National Championship could be coming soon. Not only does this team have the offense and ability to score easily, but it can also lock it down on defense when, at times, the offense goes stagnant.

Michigan has also been battle-tested in the Big Ten, as well as in non-conference play. A midseason loss ot Duke might have been exactly what the Wolverines needed to prepare for potentially that same matchup in a win-or-go-home situation.

The Wolverines can't afford to waste this opportunity and have to keep riding the momentum all the way to the end.
