Jake Moody was one of the greatest kickers in Michigan football history. On Satuday, in a preseason game beween the 49ers and Raiders, he reminded everyone why.

With the game on the line, albeit a preseason game, Moody stepped to the plate for the 49ers and drilled a 59-yard field goal to deliver the win over the Las Vegas Raiders in the second week of the NFL preseason.

After making 84 percent of his field-goal attempts in 2023, that number dropped to 70 percent last season, so it's good to see Moody back in his old form.

The former Michigan football kicker wasn't the only alum that made an impact on Saturday, though. Roman Wilson, a third-round pick of the Steelers in 2024, who missed most of last season,

Roman Wilson makes explosive players for Steelers

Wilson, a Michigan football great, will always be remembered for his clutch reception in the Rose Bowl win over Alabama, along with his fourth-quarter touchdown. He also caught an epic touchdown pass against Ohio State in 2023, along wth a big catch in "The Game" in 2021.

On Saturday, against the Bucs, Wilson hauled in two catches for 72 yards. One catch covered 42 yards. Another went for 30. That's a good sign for Wilson who is hoping to stick on the Steelers 53-man roster this season with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback.

Joining the standouts was rookie defensive back Makari Paige. He wasn't drafted but did sign as a rookie free agent with the Giants. In a preseason game against the Jets, Paige notched a diving interception, which might remind Michigan fans of the clutch pick against Ohio State in the 13-10 upset last November.

Either way, if Paige makes more plays like that, he'll have a case to make the 53-man roster, too.
