Jack Tuttle earned a shot at becoming Michigan's starting quarterback after a trying start to the Wolverines' season. The experienced QB has backed up the likes of Michael Penix Jr. and J.J. McCarthy, making him the perfectly experienced leader of the Michigan offense.

With Davis Warren and Alex Orji switching off in the starting role to start the year, Tuttle had earned the respect of the Wolverine fan base and his head coach Sherrone Moore. He seemed like a great option, alongside Warren and Orji, until Monday night hit and Tuttle announced his retirement from the sport of football.

Tuttle's emotional tribute to the sport, his teammates, and the Michigan coaching staff struck a chord amongst football fans, whether they pull for Michigan or not. The inclusion of his injury stats, which include five concussions and a painful UCL recovery process, made the young athlete's retirement that much more heartbreaking.

In a time when the health and well-being of players are at the forefront of people's minds, especially in regard to head injuries, people should have nothing but respect for Tuttle's decision.

As Michigan continues to solidify its starting man for the quarterback position, Tuttle has taken his own name out of the running and it is undeniably for the best.

The heartfelt, sentimental message that he shared on social media not only spoke of his appreciation for those in the Wolverine program, but also showed how important the sport has been to him, how much his family matters to him, and how much respect he has for everyone involved in his athletic career.

Before his retirement announcement, Tuttle had completed 30 of his 50 pass attempts for 306 yards and 1 touchdown.
