Jim Harbaugh
Jim Harbaugh's second season as Michigan football head came in 2016. Harbaugh did what he does and turned Michigan into one of the best teams in the country during his second season in Ann Arbor. Michigan football finished the year with a 10-3 record. They entered the season finale in Columbus at 10-1 and lost on a questionable call as J.T. Barrett was given a first down on what we all know was a bad call. If Michigan wins that game, they go onto the Big Ten Championship and then the playoff. However, the college football world was now well aware that Michigan was back to being a national power as year two of the Harbaugh era concluded.
Brady Hoke
Brady Hoke finished 8-5 in his second season as the head coach of Michigan football. The Wolverines finished ranked 24th in the country and had a 6-2 record in the Big Ten. It certainly was not the worst year ever but it left fans wanting more. The program took a step back from year one to year two under Hoke and it was a sign of things to come in the future. The Brady Hoke era was trending in the wrong direction starting in year two.
Rich Rodriguez
The Rich Rodriguez era was the worst era of my life personally. It is hard to look back at sometimes because of how far it set the program back. The team finished 5-7 during his second year in Ann Arbor. Although this was an improvement from year one, the vibe around the program just never felt right. He tried to implement his spread style that was just never going to be a fit for the Michigan football program. The writing was already on the wall at the end of year two that the Rich Rod era was going to be short-lived at Michigan.
Lloyd Carr
Lloyd Carr will always have a special place in my heart as a Michigan football fan because he was the coach as I grew up watching Michigan play. He played a big role in developing me into the Michigan fan I am today. Lloyd Carr finished 8-4 during his second season in Ann Arbor. This was the season before he went on to win the national championship so the program was heading in the right direction. Lloyd Carr will forever be remembered as one of the greatest coaches in Michigan football history.
Sherrone Moore has built up a great reputation in Ann Arbor as an offensive line coach, offensive coordinator, and now head coach. He brought Michigan its highest-rated recruiting class since 2017 and seems to be beloved by his players and fellow coaches.
The Bryce Underwood era is about to begin and so is year two of the Sherrone Moore era. I can not wait to see him build his legacy as the coach of the Michigan football program.
