How Michigan football QB Davis Warren has improved since his last start

Decision Making
Whether it was the confidence in his pass protection, extra experience, or both, Davis Warren looked a lot more settled in the pocket Saturday. One of the biggest improvements was his ability to read his progressions and not force a throw, instead finding his second or third reciever on a play when his first option wasn't open. On the play following the fumble recovery late in the first half, Warren worked through all five of his reads to eventually find his check down to Donovan Edwards in the flat, picking up 15 yards and making a much easier field goal attempt for Dominic Zvada.
Warren also did a much better job of confirming what he saw before the play with his post snap reads. When defenses disguise coverages they can force a quarterback into some bad throws. We saw this a lot with Warren in his first three starts but on Saturday he did a much better job of confirming what he saw and making the correct throw.
Lastly, we saw Warren do a really good job of throwing with touch and leveling balls into tight windows. This is a really tough skill that a lot of college quarterbacks struggle with. Usually it only comes with experience and Warren really impressed on Saturday.
