Here is the complete report card from the Michigan football win over Wisconsin on Saturday.
Offense: C
The offensive line was bad for most of the game. Justice Haynes had another 100-plus game and two touchdowns, but it seems every week that the majority comes from one big run. I’d like to see the offensive line be more consistent throughout an entire game. There are still too many dropped passes; it’s a real concern. Bryce Underwood has to eventually take something off some of the throws. With that said, he should’ve had over 300 yards passing in this game. Donaven McCulley and Andrew Marsh had good games catching the ball. I’m worried about Semaj Morgan.
Defense: A
Wisconsin’s opening drive was worrisome. Missed tackles, and the Badgers ran the ball at will. The Wolverines got beaten on the blitz by the third-string quarterback multiple times on the first drive. Michigan football stepped up and didn’t allow much after that. I would’ve liked to see more than one sack against the quarterback, but it was nice to see Rod Moore back and getting an interception.
Special Teams: D
The punting game was horrible for Michigan. Then a missed field goal on a bad snap in the third quarter didn’t help things. The only things that save this from being an F are a decent return from Morgan and a blocked punt.
Coaching: C
I don’t know what was going on with the offensive play-calling. Wisconsin has a good run defense, and Michigan got stopped for most of the game running up the middle. Run the ball outside, maybe some wide receiver sweeps or something. They did enough to get the win, but it shouldn’t have been 10-7 at halftime. I did like the trick play called on the first play of the game, which resulted in a pass interference on Wisconsin. The aggressiveness should’ve stayed the entire game.
Overall: C
A win is a win, but this should’ve been a blowout. Receivers have to start catching the ball, and the offensive line has to block better throughout the entire game. Special teams have been anything but.
